The Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies (The Mormon University)
A controversial addition to Mount Scopus was the Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies built by the Mormons. A beautiful building with a stunning view of the city, it provoked a national debate because of concerns about Mormon missionary activities. The Mormons agreed not to proselytize in the city and they were subsequently allowed to create their center just down the street from the university. On Sundays, the center offers church-organ concerts, free of charge.
