 Museum of the Underground Prisoners

A national site located in Acre's fortress which was built during the Ottoman period as a palace for the governor of the city. During the British Mandate it was used as a prison. .

The first prisoner in it was Zeev Jabotinsky, the founder of the Zionist Revisionist Movement (later to be known as the Herut party the founding party of today Likud party). He was arrested and put in the fortress with his friends from “Hagana”. Now it serves as a museum displaying the history of the building, reconstructing the prison cells and the gallows room.The displayed  articles in the museum  tell the heroic history of Jews and their Struggle for independence state and  the creation of the state of Israel.
