This hill, located near Capernaum, is now the site of a twentieth century Catholic chapel called the Church of the Beatitudes. As the name suggests this is the hill upon which, according to Christian tradition, Jesus preached the "Sermon on the Mount". Next to the church is a natural amphitheatre sloping down to the lake side, and it's likely that Jesus stood at the bottom of the hill as he preached. But this in no way detracts from the beauty of the church on its crest.
