Hebron

The town of Hebron  situated in the Judaean Hills between Jerusalem (37km/23mi) and Beersheba (48km/30mi). The city is known for  the monumental shrine erected over the cave in which Abraham was buried. The site  makes the city of Hebron one of the great sights for visitors with an interest in scriptural history. One should not forget that this holy place for Arabs and Jews alike, stirs deep religious and political passions, and has been the scene of conflict between them for much of the last century. Since there are frequently violent clashes between Arabs and Israelis in Hebron it is essential before visiting the town to check up on the current situation with the tourist information office in Jerusalem.

Another main attraction in Hebron is Tomb of the Patriarchs (The Cave of Machpelah)
