A few hundred yards/meters northeast of the Persian Gardens is the Haifa Museum. Since 1977 this museum includes the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Ancient Art. The Museum also has departments of ethnography and folklore and a section devoted to Jewish ritual art. The Museum of Modern Art displays the works of Israeli and foreign (American, Western European, Japanese) artists from the 18th century to the present day. Illustrated lectures are given in the evenings.
